Etymology: < classical Latin prōpendēre to hang forward or down, to incline or be disposed < prō- pro- prefix1 + pendēre to hang (see pend v.3). Compare earlier propense adj., propensed adj., propension n.
1. intransitive. To hang or lean forwards, outwards, or downwards; to incline in a particular direction. Also occasionally transitive. Obsolete.
