Etymology: < classical Latin prōpēns-, past participial stem of prōpendēre propend v. + -itude comb. form, after e.g. magnitude n. Compare earlier propenseness n., propension n., propensity n.
1. Inclination, tendency, or propensity to or towards a person or thing. Cf. propensity n. 1b. archaic and humorous in later use. Now rare.
