释义 | pseudobranchn. Zoology. A structure resembling a gill, but not functioning as one; spec. (in many fishes) a structure anterior to the gills that in adults receives blood that has already been oxygenated in the gills, but which may have had a respiratory function in early life. ΚΠ 1885 Standard Nat. Hist. III. 43 This gill is not functional,—it receives only already aërated blood, and is therefore known as a false gill or pseudobranch. 1930 H. G.
