Brit. /ˌs(j)uːdə(ʊ)ˈlɒdʒᵻkl/, U.S. /ˌsudoʊˈlɑdʒək(ə)l/, /ˌsudəˈlɑdʒək(ə)l/
Origin: A borrowing from Greek, combined with an English element. Probably also partly formed within English, by compounding. Etymons: Greek ψευδολογικός , -al suffix1; pseudo- comb. form, logical adj.
Etymology: Originally < Byzantine Greek ψευδολογικός lying, false ( < ancient Greek ψευδολογία pseudology n. + -ικός -ic suffix) + -al suffix1; compare -logical comb. form. Compare post-classical Latin pseudologicus false reasoner (c1200, a1452 in British sources). Compare later pseudology n. 1. In later use probably independently < pseudo- comb. form + logical adj., probably after pseudology n.
