Origin: Formed within English, by compounding. Etymons: pseudo- comb. form, -scope comb. form.
Etymology: < pseudo- comb. form + -scope comb. form.Coined by C. Wheatstone (see quot. 1852). N.E.D. (1909) also gives the pronunciation (psiū·dŏskoup) /ˈpsjuːdəskəʊp/.
Physiology and Psychology.
A binocular optical instrument for producing a stereoscopic image in which the appearance of depth is reversed by transposing the images seen by the left and right eyes.
