Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymon: Latin pulpōsus.
Etymology: < classical Latin pulpōsus fleshy (2nd cent. a.d. in Apuleius) < pulpa pulp n. + -ōsus -ose suffix1. Compare earlier pulpous adj. N.E.D. (1909) gives the pronunciation as (pɒ·lpōus) /ˈpʌlpəʊs/.
Obsolete. rare. Apparently only attested in dictionaries or glossaries.
