1. Scottish (chiefly Glasgow). Also with capital initial. A qualifying examination for a secondary school. Now historical.Children who passed the examination, taken at 12 years of age, qualified for a Senior Secondary school as opposed to the more vocationally-based Junior Secondary, until the introduction of the comprehensive system of education in 1965.
