Origin: Either (i) a borrowing from Latin, combined with an English element. Or (ii) formed within English, by derivation. Etymons: Latin Adamiticus , -al suffix1; Adamite n.1, -ical suffix.
Etymology: Either < post-classical Latin Adamiticus (see Adamitic adj.) + -al suffix1, or < Adamite n.1 + -ical suffix. Compare earlier Adamitic adj.
Now rare.
= Adamitic adj. In early use with reference to nakedness.
