单词 rabona
释义

rabonan.

Brit. /rəˈbəʊnə/, U.S. /rəˈboʊnə/
Forms: also with capital initial.
Origin: A borrowing from Spanish. Etymon: Spanish rabona.
Etymology: < Argentinian Spanish rabona, short for hacerse la rabona to play truant (1876 or earlier) < hacer to do (see malicho n.) + se , reflexive particle + la the + rabona game of small importance (1825 or earlier), earlier denoting a female animal with a docked tail (1575), feminine form corresponding to rabón animal with a short tail (1607) < rabo tail (see rubican n.) + -ón (see -oon suffix). The football term is explained as deriving from a punning caption, el infante que se hizo la rabona ‘the child who skips school’, as used in a 1948 edition of the Argentinian football magazine El Gráfico accompanying a cartoon depicting the player Ricardo Infante (1924–2008), who had performed this action in a recent match. The use with capital initial perhaps reflects a mistaken view that the term derives from a proper name.
Association Football.
An unorthodox way of kicking a ball in which the kicking leg crosses behind the standing leg before making contact; (also) a pass, cross, etc., made in this way. Frequently as a modifier, as in rabona cross, rabona goal, etc.Typically to allow a player to use their stronger foot when their body position would otherwise preclude it, to deceive an opponent, or simply as a show of skill.
