Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymon: Latin racēmus.
Etymology: < classical Latin racēmus cluster of grapes, of uncertain origin (probably a loanword from another language of the Mediterranean). In sense 2 after post-classical Latin racemus ( J. Elmgren Termini botanici (1762) 23).
1. A cluster or bunch of grapes. Obsolete.
