Origin: Apparently formed within English, by derivation. Etymons: rate v.2, rate n.1, -ably suffix; rateable adj., -ly suffix2.
Etymology: In early use apparently < either rate v.2 or rate n.1 + -ably suffix. In later use probably < rateable adj. + -ly suffix2. Compare slightly earlier rate-like adv., rately adv.
In a rateable manner; proportionately.
