单词 radiosity
释义

radiosityn.

Brit. /ˌreɪdɪˈɒsᵻti/, U.S. /ˌreɪdiˈɑsədi/
Origin: Formed within English, by derivation. Etymons: radiant adj., radiate v., -osity suffix.
Etymology: < radi- (in radiant adj., radiate v.) + -osity suffix. In sense 1 after luminosity n.
1. Engineering and Physics. The amount of radiant energy emitted by a surface per unit area. The concept is analogous to that of luminosity in illumination engineering, where the radiant energy concerned is visible light.
ΚΠ
1936 P. Moon Sci. Basis Illuminating Engin. 546 If the surface radiates, another concept deals with the radiant power emitted per unit area. Since there seems to be no name for this concept, the author has called it radiosity J. The word is similar to luminosity which denotes the corresponding photometric quantity.
1954 Ecology 35 565/1 This instrument, when inverted, recorded a 25 to 30% reduction in lower-hemisphere radiation, due to the lesser radiosity of the shaded ground.
1981 R. Siegel & J. R. Howell Thermal Radiation Heat Transfer viii. 239 The quantities qi and qo are the rates of incoming and outgoing radiant energy per unit inside area, respectively... The term radiosity is often used for the quantity qo.
1992 Proc. Royal Soc. A. 439 479 The radiative heat flux from each element is computed by calculating the difference between the radiosity for that element and the corresponding black body radiation.
2004 Jrnl. Acoustical Soc. Amer. 116 3505 This paper explores acoustical (or time-dependent) radiosity using predictions made in four cubic enclosures.
2. Computing. In computer graphics: a method for rendering three-dimensional objects which allows for the multiple reflection of light between the surfaces depicted; an algorithm for implementing this. Frequently attributive.
ΚΠ
1985 Computer Graphics 19 iii. 32/1 The radiosity method describes an equilibrium energy balance within an enclosure.
1992 P. Reilly in P. Reilly & S. Rahtz Archaeol. & Information Age xii. 151 Radiosity techniques are currently in the vanguard of computer graphics research.
1996 Byte Oct. 86/1 It does not include complex predefined objects, automatic shadows, ray-tracing, or radiosity functions.
2004 J. Whittaker Cyberspace Handbk. v. 102 While ray tracing only calculates light reflected in one direction, radiosity rendering can take into account the diffuse scattering of ambient light.
