Origin: Formed within English, by derivation. Etymons: raffle v.2, -ed suffix1, ruffled adj.1
Etymology: Either < raffle v.2 (although this is first attested later) + -ed suffix1, or a variant of ruffled adj.1 (although in that case the phonological development is difficult to explain).
Chiefly Architecture.
Of a leaf, flower, etc.: having a serrated edge; indented. Cf. raffle v.2 1, raffle leaf n.
