raspedadj.2

Origin: Apparently a borrowing from French, combined with an English element. Etymons: French râpé , -ed suffix1, -ed suffix2.
Etymology: Apparently < French râpé, with etymologizing alteration of the stem (compare earlier raspe adj. and its etymon Middle French raspe , although the coiner may simply have been proceeding from the assumption that French â normally corresponds to earlier as ) and substitution of either -ed suffix1 or -ed suffix2 for the ending. Compare rape n.7, rape n.8
Obsolete. rare.
Only in rasped wine: = rape n.7 1. Cf. raspe adj.
