Etymology: < classical Latin receptāculum receptacle n.In receptaculum chyli at sense 1 after post-classical Latin chyli receptaculum ( J. Pecquet Experimenta nova anatomica (1651) i. 1; compare quot. 1659 at sense 1). In sense 2a after post-classical Latin receptaculum ( J. Pontedera Anthologia (1720) 26).
