Etymology: < classical Latin reciprocāt-, past participial stem of reciprocāre reciprocate v. + -ive suffix. Compare post-classical Latin reciprocativus that involves reciprocal action (late 13th cent. in a British source), that leads in a reverse direction (c1325 in a British source). Compare later reciprocate v.
Characterized by or inclined to reciprocation; (in early use) spec. = reciprocal adj. 9 (now disused).
