单词 recuperable
释义

recuperableadj.

Brit. /rᵻˈk(j)uːp(ə)rəbl/, U.S. /rəˈkupərəb(ə)l/, /riˈkupərəb(ə)l/
Origin: Perhaps of multiple origins. Probably partly a borrowing from French. Probably partly a borrowing from Latin. Perhaps also partly a borrowing from Latin, combined with an English element. Etymons: French recuperable ; Latin recuperabilis ; Latin recuperare , -able suffix.
Etymology: Probably < Middle French recuperable (although this is first attested slightly later: 1468; French récuperable (1823)) and its etymon post-classical Latin recuperabilis recoverable (from 11th cent. in British sources; 16th cent. in continental sources) < classical Latin recuperare to recover, restore (see recuperate v.) + -bilis -ble suffix. Perhaps reborrowed in the 19th cent. < either French or Latin, or formed independently < classical Latin recuperare + -able suffix. Compare recoverable adj.
= recoverable adj.Apparently unattested between the 16th and 19th centuries.
