Etymology: < Anglo-Norman and Middle French ramain-, ramein-, stressed stem of Anglo-Norman and Middle French ramener to lead or bring back (first half of the 12th cent. in Anglo-Norman), to restore (something) (early 14th cent. or earlier in Anglo-Norman; French ramener ; in Anglo-Norman also remaner , remener , etc.) < re- re- prefix + amener to bring, to lead (see amain v.).
Obsolete. rare.
