Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymons: Latin rēmig-, rēmex.
Etymology: < classical Latin rēmig-, rēmex rower < rēmus oar (see reme n.1) + a second element < the stem of agere (see act v.).
1. A person who rows a boat; a rower. Obsolete. rare.
