Origin: Either (i) a borrowing from French. Or (ii) formed within English, by derivation. Etymons: French reprehendable ; reprehend v., -able suffix.
Etymology: Either < Middle French reprehendable (13th cent. in Old French; apparently irregularly < classical Latin reprehendere reprehend v. + -able -able suffix; compare Middle French reprehendre (1498, in an apparently isolated use)), or < reprehend v. + -able suffix. Compare post-classical Latin reprehendibilis (a1349 in Richard Rolle; compare quot. a1500). Compare irreprehendable adj.
