Origin: A borrowing from Latin, combined with an English element. Etymons: Latin resilīre , -ate suffix3.
Etymology: < classical Latin resilīre resile v. + -ate suffix3. Compare earlier resiliating adj., and perhaps also earlier resiluation n. In later use in sense 2 in Canadian Law probably after French résilier in this sense (see resile v.).
1. intransitive. To rebound or recoil on contact; to return to a former position or shape. Obsolete.
