Origin: A borrowing from French. Etymon: French renom.
Etymology: < Anglo-Norman and Middle French renom renown n. Compare earlier renomee n., renown n.Except where there is clear metrical evidence to the contrary it is possible that early instances of the spelling renome could instead show renomee n.
Obsolete (archaic and poetic in later use).
Renown, fame; reputation.
