Etymology: Apparently < re- prefix + passant adj. (compare passant adj. 3). French repasser repass v.1 is apparently not attested in spec. heraldic use.
Heraldry. Obsolete.
Of a four-legged animal: walking towards the sinister while another animal walks towards the dexter. Cf. passant adj. 3.The more usual term is counter-passant adj.passant repassant: see the first element.
