Origin: Formed within English, by compounding; modelled on a German lexical item. Etymons: resino- comb. form, -phore comb. form.
Etymology: < resino- comb. form + -phore comb. form, after German resinophor (W. Herzog 1921, in Österreichische Chem.-Zeitung 24 77). Compare French résinophore (1923 or earlier).
Chemistry. Now rare.
A group of atoms whose presence in a molecule makes it susceptible to polymerization to form a resin. Usually attributive, in resinophore group.
