Inferior examples are often not true patchwork, as the small pieces are applied to the ground and not inlaid. 2007 C. A. Leslie Needlework through Hist. 41 Extant examples of Resht work date from the seventeenth, eighteenth, and nineteenth centuries but the technique is much older.
