Origin: Apparently formed within English, by derivation; perhaps modelled on a Latin lexical item. Etymons: reverberate v., -atory suffix2.
Etymology: Apparently irregularly < reverb- (in reverberate v.) + -atory suffix2, perhaps arising from misrecollection of post-classical Latin reverberatorius (see reverberatory adj.) or reverberatory n. Compare later reverberatory adj., reverb v.
