Origin: Formed within English, by compounding. Etymons: bio- comb. form, analyst n.
Etymology: < bio- comb. form + analyst n. In sense 1 after German Bioanalyst ( S. Ferenczi Versuch einer Genitaltheorie (1924) x. 115). Compare bioanalysis n.
1. Chiefly Psychoanalysis. In the terminology of S. Ferenczi: an expert or specialist in the application of psychoanalytical theory to biology (see bioanalysis n. 1). rare.
