Etymology: < bio- comb. form + -centrism comb. form, after biocentric adj.
In early use: the treatment of life in general (rather than just human life) as a central fact of the universe (cf. anthropocentrism n.). Now chiefly: the view or belief that the rights and needs of humans are not more important than those of other living things. Cf. biocentric adj.
