Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymon: Latin retexere.
Etymology: < classical Latin retexere to unweave, unravel, to undo, cancel < re- re- prefix + texere to weave (see text n.1).
Obsolete.
transitive. To undo (a woven fabric), to unravel. Chiefly figurative: to destroy the strength or validity of (an argument, law, etc.); to pick apart; to cause to dissolve.
