Designating people or things associated with the Reuters international news agency, founded in 1851 in London by Paul Julius Reuter (see the etymology).Originally founded as a business transmitting stock market quotations, the Reuters agency pioneered the use of telegraphy, building up a service used today by newspapers and radio and television stations in most countries. It came to be noted for its speed and unbiased reporting. The agency was purchased by the Thomson Corporation in 2008, and is now known as Thomson Reuters.
