Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymon: Latin reticulosus.
Etymology: < post-classical Latin reticulosus (1786 or earlier) < classical Latin rēticulum small meshwork bag, small net (see reticulum n.) + -ōsus -ose suffix1. Compare earlier reticulary adj., reticular adj.
Chiefly Zoology.
Forming a network; having markings resembling a network; reticulated; esp. (of pseudopodia) consisting of many slender anastomosing branches; (of a protist) having such pseudopodia.
