Origin: Of multiple origins. Partly from a proper name, combined with an English element. Partly a borrowing from French. Etymons: proper name Rimbaud , -ian suffix; French Rimbaudien.
Etymology: Partly < the name of Arthur Rimbaud (1854–91), French poet + -ian suffix, and partly < French Rimbaudien (1923 or earlier; rare; the more usual French word is Rimbaldien Rimbaldian adj.). Compare later Rimbaldian adj.
Of, relating to, characteristic of, or reminiscent of Arthur Rimbaud or (esp.) his poetry.
