Etymology: Probably < righteous adj. + -er suffix1, after ancient Greek δικαιῶν, present participle of δικαιοῦν to justify. Compare righteous v.The Vulgate has post-classical Latin iustificans , present participle of iustificare justify v., in the corresponding passage.
Obsolete.
A person who makes another or others righteous. Cf. righteous v., justifier n. 1.Apparently an isolated use.In quot. 1866 of God, translating Romans 3:26. Cf. ‘That he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus’ (King James Bible).
