单词 rigorousté
释义

rigoroustén.

Forms: Middle English rigoroussete, Middle English rigorouste, Middle English rigorste, Middle English rigourstee.
Origin: Probably a borrowing from French. Etymon: French *rigorousté.
Etymology: Probably < an unrecorded Anglo-Norman or Middle French form *rigorousté, *rigoreusté < rigorous , rigoreux rigorous adj. + -té -ty suffix1. Compare Middle French rigoureusité (1496). Compare later rigorosity n. and its etymon post-classical Latin rigorositas. It is much less probable that the word shows a formation within English < rigorous adj. (which is first recorded later) + -ty suffix1 (which shows very limited productivity in English).
Obsolete.
Rigorous quality or application; strictness, severity.
