Origin: A borrowing from Pahari. Etymon: Pahari ningal.
Etymology: < Pahari ningal, probably < a Tibeto-Burman language.
Any of various Himalayan bamboos of the genus Yushania (formerly included in Arundinaria), having long flexible stems used to make baskets, matting, etc. Also (as a count noun): a stem of such a plant used as a fishing rod (now rare).
