rivedadv.adj.1

Forms: Middle English riued, Middle English riuet, Middle English ryuet, Middle English ryvyd, Middle English–1500s ryued.
Origin: Apparently formed within English, by derivation. Etymons: rive , rife adj., -ed suffix1.
Etymology: Apparently < rive, variant of rife adj. + -ed suffix1. Compare rife adv. and later rivedly adv.It is not entirely clear whether the example in quot. c1225 at sense A. is to be interpreted as an adverb (qualifying rinneð ) or an adjective (qualifying eoli ), but the fact that it translates a Latin adverb suggests the former (see further S. R. T. O. d'Ardenne & E. J. Dobson Seinte Katerine (1981) 285). Earlier currency of rived as adjective (sense B.) is probably implied by rivedly adv.
Obsolete.
A. adv.
Abundantly, plentifully.
