Etymology: < French roulade quick passage of notes or runs (1622), dish served in the form of a roll (1698 (in the passage translated in quot. 1702 at sense 2) denoting a meat dish, 1933 denoting a cake) < rouler roll v.2 + -ade -ade suffix.In quot. 1922 at sense 2 after German Roulade meat dish served in the form of a roll (mid 19th cent.; < French).

Etymology: < roulade n., perhaps after French roulader (1785; rare before late 19th cent.). Compare slightly earlier roulading n.
Now rare.
intransitive. To perform a musical roulade.
