释义 | rope-a-dopen. Boxing slang (originally U.S.). A tactic intended to fatigue an opponent, whereby a boxer leans against the ropes in order to induce the opponent to throw tiring, ineffective punches to the body or the arms and gloves. Frequently attributive. Also in extended use. Particularly associated with Muhammad Ali (1942–2016), world heavyweight champion three times between 1964 and 1978.
