Etymology: < French rudenture (1546 in Middle French) < rudenté (see rudented adj.) + -ure -ure suffix1.
Architecture. Now rare.
A convex moulding or ornament in the form of a rope.Recorded chiefly in dictionaries and glossarial sources.

1723 E. Chambers tr. S. Le Clerc Treat. Archit. I. 73 By a Rudenture we mean the Figure of a Rope or Staff cut, on some occasions, in the Flutings, to strengthen their sides.
