1. Of poultry or other birds: affected with roup (roup n.1 1); relating to or characteristic of roup. Also figurative.Quot. 1722 was treated in N.E.D. as an example of roupy adj.2, but both the general context and the reference to rotten eggs (cf. quot. 1822) suggest that it should be reassigned.
