Origin: Probably formed within English, by derivation. Etymons: rox v., -y suffix1.
Etymology: Probably < rox v. (although this is first attested later) + -y suffix1. Eng. Dial. Dict. (at cited word) records the word as still in use in south Worcestershire in 1903.
English regional (midlands). Now rare.
Of fruit: overripe, almost rotten.
