单词 rubinic
释义

rubinicadj.

Brit. /ruːˈbɪnɪk/, U.S. /ruˈbɪnɪk/
Origin: A borrowing from Latin, combined with an English element; modelled on a Swedish lexical item. Etymons: Latin rubinus , -ic suffix.
Etymology: < post-classical Latin rubinus rubine adj. + -ic suffix, after Swedish rubinsyra rubinic acid (L. F. Svanberg 1836, in Kongl. Vetenskaps-Acad. Handlingar 1835 290; compare German Rubinsäure (1836 in a report on the Swedish coinage)). The acid is so called on account of the red colour of its salts. Compare French rubinique (1839 or earlier in acide rubinique, in a report on the Swedish coinage).
Chemistry. Now rare.
rubinic acid n. a tannic acid (not further identified) produced by the action of alkali on catechin.
