Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymon: Latin rubricator.
Etymology: < post-classical Latin rubricator (1739 or earlier) < rubricat- , past participial stem of rubricare rubricate v. + -or -or suffix. Compare German Rubrikator (1785 or earlier; 1777 or earlier as Rubricator), French rubricateur (1808 or earlier).
