Origin: Formed within English, by derivation. Etymons: rub v.1, -ster suffix.
Etymology: < rub v.1 + -ster suffix. In sense 2 originally after post-classical Latin fricatrix fricatrice n. and confricatrix (1626 or earlier); with this sense compare earlier tribade n. and fricatrice n.
1. An implement used to rub cloth. Obsolete.
