单词 ruckus
释义

ruckusn.

Brit. /ˈrʌkəs/, /ˈrʊkəs/, U.S. /ˈrəkəs/, /ˈrʊkəs/

Origin: Of uncertain origin.
Etymology: Origin uncertain; perhaps < ruc- (in ruction n.) + -us (in rumpus n.), or perhaps an alteration of rook n.3, with an arbitrary extension; compare also ruck n.5 and ruck v.5 2.The earliest examples, written with a single c or k , perhaps show the variant discussed at rookus n., which would then be the earliest form.
