Etymology: In sense 1 < post-classical Latin Saturnine in the manner of the god Saturn (1667 in the passage translated in quot. 1673; < Saturninus saturnine adj. + classical Latin , suffix forming adverbs) + -ly suffix2. In sense 2 < saturnine adj.+ -ly suffix2.
