释义 | sarcenchymen. Sollas's name for a connective tissue in certain sponges (see quot.). ΚΠ 1887 W. J. Sollas in Encycl. Brit. XXII. 419/2 In the higher sponges (Geodia, Stelletta) it [sc. the mesoderm] consists of small polygonal granular cells either closely contiguous or separated by a very small quantity of structureless jelly, and in this form may be termed sarcenchyme. 1898 A.
