Origin: A borrowing from Sanskrit. Etymon: Sanskrit sat.
Etymology: < Sanskrit sat, use as noun of sat existing, real, true (see sati n.).
Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism.
A state of absolute being or pure existence.In Hinduism, Sat is considered one of the three aspects of the divine, together with Chit (Chit n.6) and Ananda (Ananda n.), and often appears in combination with these words as sat-chit-ananda.
