Etymology: < post-classical Latin Schneiderianus (1682 or earlier in membrana Schneideriana Schneiderian membrane) < the name of Konrad Viktor Schneider (1610–80), German physician, who investigated this structure + -ianus -ian suffix.Schneider's initial work on the nasal membrane, Liber de osse cribriformi, et sensu ac organo odoratus, was published in 1655.
