Etymology: < the name of Anthelme Brillat-Savarin (1755–1826), French politician, lawyer, and gastronome. O.E.D. Suppl. (1982) gives the non-naturalized pronunciation (savaræṅ) /savarɛ̃/.
A light ring-shaped cake made with yeast and soaked in liqueur-flavoured syrup, typically served with fruit and cream.
